Wildlife Landscaping

JPR Environmental provides a full range of habitat management services to enable clients to successfully implement and manage their landscaping works. From design through landscaping to subsequent management, we offer a seamless solution for all wildlife landscaping projects:

Previous clients that have utilised our services include environmental consultants, developers, wildlife organisations, landscape architects and civil engineers. You can find more details of the projects that we have undertaken recently in our wildlife landscaping case studies.

Species Exclusion:

An area known to contain great crested newts is fenced to isolate the population from the adjacent development. The 45 o angled fence allows one-way passage of newts escaping from the development site into the refuge area but prevents migration of newts into the development site.

Habitat Creation, Restoration & Enhancement:

A new lake created by the extraction of gravel is planted with reeds, increasing the types of habitat around the lake to benefit many forms of wildlife. The orange fencing excludes wildfowl, preventing damaging grazing whilst the reeds establish.

Habitat Management:

An area of low-diversity grassland is sown with a native wildflower mix. Increased plant diversity and appropriate management will benefit invertebrates and support declining farmland bird species.

Mitigation and Compensation Design:

All developments that will affect protected species are required by law to ensure special measures are implemented to reduce its impact on the species or its habitat. This is termed mitigation and it may vary from short-term considerations during the development works to minimising any long-term affects to the species that may result from the development.

In substantial developments or permanent changes of land use the developer may be required to compensate for any loss or damage to protected species or habitats. This can entail the purchase of extra land or landscaping areas of the development to create new habitat for the protected species, or enhancing existing habitat.

JPR Environmental offers a range of mitigation and habitat enhancement services for protected species of animals that are frequently encountered during developments.

Japanese Knotweed Services

Japanese Knotweed Surveying: JPR Environmental provides a full survey and advice service within the Midlands and South-west for developers, estate agents and private landowners. Site inspections can be arranged to establish the extent of any Japanese Knotweed infestation and a full control programme can be drawn up to ensure it’s eradication.

Japanese Knotweed Spraying: We have a team of licensed sprayers and will carry out any such works within the Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and Somerset area.  Early identification and treatment of Japanese Knotweed outbreaks is critical to prevent its continued spread and this will significantly reduce the cost and timescales involved in any control work.
