Project period

Project outline
JPR Environmental installed coir rolls and reprofiled a bank that was eroding on a Mill Pond. Previous attempts to install a sleeper wall had failed. The client wanted the materials re-used where possible but also to raise and strengthen the bank where it was slipping. It was also necessary to shore up and extend the bank of a small island in the pond.
Services provided
Any suitable sleepers were used to provide a firm base for the new bank. The new bank was built up using dead willow faggots and pre-planted coir rolls to the mean water level, fixed into position using 2m wooden stakes. This raised the bank by approximately 25cm and the area behind was then back filled with approximately 10 tons of topsoil to create a new profile and seeded with grass. All materials were carried to the work area to prevent vehicle damage to lawns etc.
